Miguel Hidalgo is one of the sixteen boroughs that make up Mexico City, the capital of Mexico. Located in the western central part of the city, it is named after Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, the Catholic priest who initiated Mexico's War of Independence in 1810. The borough is home to approximately 370,000 residents and encompasses some of the most prestigious and well-known neighborhoods in all of Mexico City, including Polanco, Lomas de Chapultepec, Bosque de Chapultepec, and Santa Fe.
