The Sun Mall shopping street connecting Nakano Station's north exit to Nakano Broadway is lined with restaurants, cafes, clothing shops, and daily goods stores that cater to the ward's diverse resident population. The area around the station is lively at all hours, with izakaya and ramen shops attracting both salarymen after work and students from nearby universities. Nakano Central Park, developed on the former site of the Metropolitan Police Department Academy, provides green space and hosts outdoor events.

Transport in Nakano is excellent. The JR Chuo and Sobu Lines serve Nakano Station, providing direct access to Shinjuku in approximately five minutes and to Tokyo Station in around 20 minutes. The Tokyo Metro Tozai Line also passes through Nakano, extending connectivity to the eastern parts of the city and beyond. This superb rail access makes the ward highly attractive for those who work in central Tokyo but prefer a more residential environment.
