Pasay is a highly urbanized city located in the National Capital Region of the Philippines, forming part of the densely developed Metro Manila metropolitan area. Situated on the southwestern shore of Manila Bay, Pasay borders Manila to the north, Makati to the northeast and east, Parañaque to the south, and the reclaimed land of the Bay Area to the west. Its coastal and transit-hub location has made it one of Metro Manila's most strategically important cities.

The Entertainment City casino and resort complex, located along the reclaimed bay area, includes international gaming resorts such as Solaire, City of Dreams, Okada Manila, and Resorts World Manila, which together form one of Southeast Asia's most significant integrated resort destinations. These facilities have added a glamorous dimension to the city's waterfront character.

Pasay has a significant cultural and religious heritage as well. The historic Baclaran Church (National Shrine of Our Mother of Perpetual Help) in the Baclaran district is one of the most visited Catholic churches in Asia, attracting hundreds of thousands of devotees each Wednesday for its famous novena services.

Transportation infrastructure is outstanding, with MRT Line 1 and the LRT Line 1 passing through the city, as well as multiple bus routes and the NAIA Expressway. The Pasay Rotonda transportation terminal is one of Metro Manila's busiest inter-city bus hubs.
